It was a joyous atmosphere in Isokan Local Council Development Area Ifaki Ekiti yesterday as the new Chairman Honourable Ogundaisi Kayode Ezekiel resumes office.
In a mini welcome ceremony organized by the staff of the council led by the Director of Administration/Acting Head of Local Council Administration Mr Wale Oladipo started with a song of praise by the council’s choir and followed by a prayer section led by Prophet Ademola Bamidele
In his welcome address, the Director of Administration/Acting Head of Local Council Administration Mr Wale Oladipo thank God for making the day a reality and charged the Chairman to lead them to promise land since their movement to the permanent site isn’t new to him. He said; “in a joyful mood, my prayer to God is that you will succeed. Sir, you are very much aware of our movement to this place, both the problems and prospects. We want you to come and lead us as the government has decided, as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has signed it and as God has ordered it so that you will take us to the promised land”. Also, he appealed to the political leaders to support the government with everything, letting them know that everything is not about money.
In his response, the new Chairman, Honourable Ogundaisi Kayode said he thanked God for keeping us till today. Also, he thanked His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji the Governor of Ekiti State for giving him the opportunity to serve his people. Likewise, the Chairman thanked the former council Chairman; Honourable Olumide Fadipe for putting the structure together “I have to thank the former Chairman, he is a colleague and friend, for putting this structure together, our friendship is still intact and I believe it will continue”. He did not forget the party leaders present.
The Chairman said he is not new in the council and that he has worked with some of the staff before and he is looking forward to working with all the staff this time around. Honourable Ogundaisi gave kudos to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the good works he has been doing and said his administration will also tour the path of the six points agenda of the Governor. He said his administration will embark on projects and no town in the council will be left out. He assured that the welfare of the staff is paramount to him and he will make sure they smile again. He said he is prepared to run a transparent government which is open to positive criticism and advise.
Finally, he said he is looking forward to a collective effort and total cooperation from everyone to move the local council forward. He also thanked the Vice Chairman, former Vice Chairman; Honourable Moji Aregbesola, former secretary; Honourable Peju Owolabi, former Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue; Honourable Olaolu Arolasuyi, leaders, councilors, the staff and everyone present for their time. He also made his first appointment in person of Mr Borode James Gbenga as his Chief of Staff.
In her short message, the wife of the Chairman and the first lady of the council; Mrs Bola Ogundaisi said women will not be left out of the administration and what belongs to the women will be rightfully given to them. Also, she said the campaign against Gender Based Violence will be upheld in the council.
A special song was rendered by the local council choir after which the Chairman and the Vice Chairman together with the people moved to their respective offices for prayer and official resumption.
