The Chairperson of
Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olori Christianah Olawumi Olayinka Ogungbemi, yesterday held an interactive session
with a diverse group of women traditional chieftaincy holders representing various communities within the LCDA including Iyemero, Itapaji, Ipao, Oke Ako, Irele, Ijowa, Ayebode, Esun, Odo Ayedun, and Oke-Ayedun Ekiti.
The session took place at the council Secretariat and included Iyalojas, Iyalajes, Eye-lobinrins, and Iyalodes from the ten communities within the LCDA.
The women traditional chieftaincy holders were delighted by the opportunity to participate and engage with the Chairperson, recognizing the importance of their presence as key stakeholders within the traditional women’s community.
During the session, Prince Michael Ogungbemi (PMO), the Executive Chairman of Ajoni LCDA, utilized the occasion to provide an update on the market project implemented by the LCDA over the past 16 months, which included the following achievements:
Construction of the Ajoni LCDA Central Market in Ayebode Ekiti, encompassing the completion of 50 open market stalls and the construction of 5 lock-up shops.
Reconstruction/renovation of 5 lock-up shops at the Oke Ayedun Ekiti main market.
Reconstruction/renovation of 5 lock-up shops at the Odo Ayedun Ekiti main market.
Construction of 10 open market stalls in Ijowa Ekiti.
Construction of 10 open market stalls in Irele Ekiti.
Construction of 5 lock-up shops in Ipao Ekiti.
Construction of 5 lock-up shops at the Iyemero Ekiti main market (currently in progress).
These initiatives were implemented to enhance the internally generated revenue of the Ajoni communities and provide accessible marketing centers for trading activities and the sale of agricultural produce.
The Iyalojas and Iyalajes were entrusted with the altruistic responsibility of generating market tolls during their respective market days. The Chairperson urged them to support the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and continue to reap the benefits of democracy.
Furthermore, the Chairperson graciously offered cash donations and gift items to all the women traditional chieftaincy holders present at the meeting.
She also pledged to organize regular interactive sessions in the future, fostering ongoing communication and collaboration with the group.
