Emmanuel Ijewere, the former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, is dead.

Dare Muyiwa, the Senior Manager of the Corporate Communications Directorate at the Institute, confirmed this sad news on Friday.

He said, “It was learnt that Ijewere gave up the ghost on Thursday, after a prolonged battle with a terminal illness.”

Prior to his passing, Emmanuel Ijewere, a distinguished figure in Nigeria’s business landscape, demonstrated a diverse array of interests and extensive expertise in banking, finance, and agriculture. Notably, he served as the 32nd president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Ijewere led the institute from 1996 to 1997 and also served as the president of notable organisations such as the Institute of Directors, and the Nigerian Red Cross.
