The Global News reports that Omobayo Godwins has been sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, succeeding Philip Ahaibu who was impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The Chief Judge of Edo State Justice Daniel Okungbowa, inaugurated the 37-year-old around 1:40 pm on Monday.

Omobayo’s inauguration at the Edo State Government House in Benin City marks a major twist in the political history of the state.

Following his oath-taking, an exuberant Omobayo, clad in a white kaftan and a red native cap, was warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd gathered at one of the halls in the Government House.

The event drew a significant turnout of supporters, well-wishers, and prominent figures from Edo State.
