The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded the results of the Edo State governorship election from 4,259 of the polling units in the state.

There are 4519 polling units in the state. And the implication of this is that the results of the 94.25% of the polling units are already uploaded on the INEC Results Viewing (IREV) portal as of the last time The Global News checked.

However, INEC does not rely on the portal to determine the outcome of any election.

The electoral body will receive the results for each of the Local Government Areas in the state, and then collate them before the winner of the election is determined and announced.

The three front runners are Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party; Monday Okpebholo the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata.

However, it seems clear that Akpata is trailing Ighodalo and Okpebholo based on the results on the IREV portal.
