On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel, rejected the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
Adebutu challenged the outcome of the governorship poll held in Ogun State on March 18, 2023, deeming it lacking in merit.
“This appeal is unmeritorious, and it is accordingly dismissed,” the apex court held.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Governor Abiodun as the winner with a total of 276,298 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Adebutu of the PDP, who secured 262,383 votes.
