The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of a new board and management team for the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).

The Global News reports that the appointment is pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Jalal Arabi continues as the Chairman of the Commission, and Aliu Abdulrazaq assumes the role of Commissioner, Policy, Personnel, & Finance in the new appointments pending confirmation.

The president also confirmed the appointment of Prince Anofi Elegushi as the Commissioner Operations and Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal as the Commissioner, Planning & Research.

On Zonal Representation, Dr
Muhammad Umaru Ndagi is to represent North Central Nigeria, Abba Jato Kala — North East, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman — North West.

Also Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe represents South West, Aishat Obi Ahmed — South East, Zainab Musa — South South, Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio — Jama’atul Nasril Islam

The president also approved the appointment of Professor Adedimeji Mahfouz Adebola to represent Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs.

The presidential spokesman stated that the president approved the appointments to guarantee a smooth and seamless 2024 Hajj operation.

President Tinubu directed the appointees to commit themselves to enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of the National Hajj Commission to meet the needs of Nigerians.
