The National Coordinator and CEO of the National Social Investment Program Agency, Ms Halima Shehu, has been suspended from office, The Global News reports.
President Bola Tinubu approved the immediate suspension and investigation of the Coordinator over alleged financial malfeasance.
In light of the suspension and the ongoing investigation into the allegations, Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, has been appointed in an acting capacity as NC/CEO until the conclusion of the inquiry.
Halima’s suspension is coming about three months after the confirmation of her appointment by the Senate.
Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo held the position of National Coordinator for the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme. She has previously served with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from 2017 to 2022.
