Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Holdings Plc has been killed in a helicopter crash along with his wife and son.
Wigwe was the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings.

1) Herbert Wigwe was born on August 15, 1966.
2) He was the CEO of Access Bank Holding Plc traded as Access Corporation until yesterday.
3) Wigwe was also the Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc, succeeding his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, from January 2014 till April 2022.
4) He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Executive Management Programme and holds a master’s in Banking and Finance from the University College of North Wales; another master’s in Financial Economics from the University of London, and a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
5) Wigwe is also the founder of Wigwe University, a budding tertiary institution located in Rivers State, where he hailed from.
6) He started his career at Coopers & Lybrand, Lagos as a management consultant, later qualifying as a chartered accountant.
7) Wigwe worked at Capital Bank and GTBank where he spent over a decade working in corporate and institutional banking, rising to become the executive director in charge of institutional banking.
8) Wigwe and his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede in 2002 bought Access Bank – at the time, the 65th largest of the 89 banks in the country.
9) He had also served as the Chairman of Access Bank Ghana Limited, Access Investment & Securities Limited, Central Securities and Clearing System (CSCS) and was the current Chairman of Access Bank (UK) Limited.
10) Wigwe founded The HOW Foundation, a non-profit organization in 2016.
