The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has suspended Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), along with three Executive Directors of the Agency.

The suspended officials include Olaniyi Alaba Netufo, responsible for Corporate Services; Barka Sajou, overseeing Technical Services; and Sa’adatu Balgore, in charge of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF).

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday in Abuja.

Ngelale explained that the action was taken in light of new findings uncovered during a comprehensive investigation into the financial activities of the agency.

The statement said, “Furthermore, President Tinubu has ordered a wider investigation into the conduct of the aforementioned officials in a fraudulent misexpenditure amounting to over N1.2 billion over the past two years, some of which has already been recovered by anti-graft agencies.”
